I was reading the blog of another guy who simply loves expostional preaching. I do as well and Kenneth had posted previously about the lengths of sermons and how we should demand that a preacher is an expositor of the Scriptures. This guy just seems to hit the nail on head with his blog and i’m gonna put a link to it here so you can check it out on your own. But I love this quote he makes: “Anytime a man, when he stands in the pulpit and does not proclaim the word of God he has failed miserably as a preacher.” This is so true. Please keep praying and demading that a preacher will do his job and teach the True and Holy Scriptures.
A Need For Expositional Preaching

And not just preaching a text here and a text there, but preaching straight through books of the Bible is very important. This is in continuity with the lectio continua practise in Geneva. In fact, there is an amusing story about the lectio continua. Calvin was forced to leave Geneva right in the middle of a sermon series on some book of the Bible. When he was asked to return 2 years later, he returned to the very same place he was in the book when he had left!
Yeah thats a sweet story, I think I heard about that when listening to Piper speak on Calvin.
This should be an interesting thread for you to get in on…
